Spiced Apple Chips

These apple chips are a delightful, healthy snack that captures the essence of winter with their warm spices. Enjoy them as a standalone treat, or pair them with a warm cup of tea for a cozy snack moment!


  • 2 large apples (choose a sweet variety like Honeycrisp or Gala)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • A pinch of ground cloves
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional: a sprinkle of sugar or sugar substitute for extra sweetness


Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 200°F (95°C). This low temperature is key to slowly dehydrating the apples.

Prepare the apples: Wash the apples and thinly slice them. The thinner the slices, the crisper they will be. Remove the seeds and core.

Season the Slices: In a bowl, mix the cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt, and optional sugar. Toss the apple slices in this mixture until evenly coated.

Arrange on Baking Sheets: Place the apple slices in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make sure they don’t overlap.

Bake: Bake the apple slices for 1-2 hours. Halfway through, flip the slices over to ensure even drying.

Cool and Crisp Up: After baking, turn off the oven and let the apple chips cool inside. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.

Enjoy and Store: Once cooled, enjoy your spiced apple chips! Store any leftovers in an airtight container.
