One of the most meaningful ways these funds are used is through our investment in early childhood literacy. We proudly support Reach Out and Read, a nationally recognized program that promotes reading aloud during pediatric visits.
Here’s how it works:
- At each well-child visit between 6 months and 5 years, children receive a free, age-appropriate book.
- Trained healthcare providers guide caregivers on the importance of reading aloud daily.
- For many families, this is their child’s very first book—an exciting and powerful moment that supports healthy development and school readiness.

- Titusville Health Center
- Wayne Primary Care
- Sharon Medical Group Pediatrics
Little Free Library: Access for All
In addition to the books shared during pediatric visits, PHNCF is expanding access by installing Little Free Libraries at every PHN pediatric location. These take-a-book/leave-a-book boxes are available 24/7 and help families discover the joy of reading at their own pace and convenience.
These two programs work hand-in-hand to create lasting moments between children and caregivers, while building a stronger, more literate community.
