Celebrating Our Recent NIMAA Graduates

PHN and the PHN Charitable Foundation are proud to celebrate milestones that reflect our mission. We are happy to announce that three PHN employees have graduated from the National Institute of Medical Assistant Advancement (NIMAA) program.

Our teams recently came together in the PHN Charitable Foundation Board Room to celebrate the achievements of our 2025–2026 cohort. Please join us in congratulating:

Congrats to Our Grads

Angie Colon-Gonzalez

Destiny Flowers

Jessica Clark

These graduates finished a program that prepares students to become Medical Assistants as part of a patient-centered care team. Their hard work not only helps their own careers but also improves the care our communities receive every day.

I chose the NIMAA program because it was a great opportunity to grow in my career. Also, the convenience of being able to do some schooling during work makes it easier for me to achieve my goal of graduating. I love helping and being helpful, so being able to help more and do more in the office where I am makes me very happy. I am also doing this for my children; I want them to be proud of me and to have an example of someone who wants to be someone. So, thank you, PHN, & PHN Charitable Foundation, for the opportunity you gave me. I appreciate it so much!

I chose to attend the NIMAA program because I love interacting with our patients and being helpful. I want to be able to help in many areas in our office; I would like to be well-balanced. I also chose to attend because I wanted to get back into the medical field, I used to study pre-med, and I always felt like this was a field I belonged in.

The NIMAA program is a great opportunity to advance your career within the medical field. For me, this program has been an amazing learning experience that has helped me understand what it really means to be a medical assistant. It is an accelerated program to become a medical assistant, and it prepares you to be the best medical assistant you can be. I chose to become a student with NIMAA because I have always wanted to help more, not only in my community but also by helping patients understand how important it is to take care of their health. I previously worked for over 2 years as a supervisor at an animal shelter. I loved being able to care for animals medically, physically, and emotionally. I knew from my experience with animals that being a medical assistant is something I would love to do and learn more about. I am very grateful to PHN & PHN Charitable Foundation for giving me this opportunity to attend school with NIMMA. I am due to graduate with NIMAA in April of 2026. I am currently at a 4.0 GPA and hope to complete school, maintaining this.

What Is NIMAA?

The PHN Charitable Foundation works with the National Institute of Medical Assistant Advancement (NIMAA) as part of their Workforce Opportunity Program. This program is dedicated to creating opportunities for meaningful healthcare careers and education.

NIMAA is one way our Workforce Opportunity Program brings our values to life. The program supports PHN and PHNCF employees as they pursue higher education and professional growth. By removing financial barriers and encouraging lifelong learning, we help people grow and strengthen our organization.

A Growing Partnership

PHN Charitable Foundation has partnered with NIMAA since spring 2022. They have been part of eight cohorts so far. This fall, we will welcome our ninth, continuing our commitment to supporting our employees and the patients they care for.

Each NIMAA graduate changes a life and helps our community. Congratulations again to Angie, Destiny, and Jessica. Your hard work inspires us, and we look forward to seeing the difference you will make.
